Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast in a Disney animated film released in 1991. It's the classic story of a young girl named Belle who falls in love with a hideous beast. I don't think I have to day much about it because everyone has seen this movie. But I don't think everyone knows how dark this movie is. If you are confused I have two words for you; stockholm syndrome. For anyone unaware of this it is a phenomenon where a hostage expresses positive emotions for there captors. For a better (explanation just google it). What I am trying to say is that Belle has stockholm syndrome. In the beginning of the movie Belle doesn't seem to like the way she's living, a place where she doesn't fit in. So when she gets captured its more like she's escaped. She's escaped her past life even if the escape could be considered unhealthy. The beast didn't even change that much in the movie, the best thing he did for her was let her roam around the castle. Not to mention feminist kinda hate his movie for the messages it's sending. The once strong independent women has to rely on the huge jerk that is her captor. They argue that the movie is telling young girl abusive/domestic relationship are a type of fairy-tail romances.

  1. The beast was like 8 when the spell was put on him, and he grew beautiful, even with the fur.
